Can’t Rain on My Parade

If I ever am able to come back to Switzerland, Interlaken would be at the top of my list to see again. I think I could’ve stayed there a week and still feel like there was so much left for me to do and see. Interlaken is the jump off point for what seems to be some of the best hiking in Switzerland, and incredible views of all the major mountains. Unfortunately, Switzerland thought I needed to enjoy the area under near constant cloud cover and sporadic showers. Regardless of the less than perfect weather, Interlaken was beautiful and was probably my favorite stop on my trip.
Highlights of Interlaken

Walking through Grindelwald and hearing Alphorns playing
– Bus ride from Grindelwald to Bussalp, magnificent views despite the clouds
– Planning a picnic and hiking, but ending up in a  secluded restaurant drinking the most    expensive cocoa ever, trying to regain the feeling in my fingers
– Wandering around Bussalp and hearing cowbells chiming up on the mountainside.     Kind of magical
– Freakin delicious cheese. Soft pretzels the size of my head. Put the two together, pure bliss
– Laughing so hard with one of my bunk-mates I thought I was going to be sick
– Staying in a hostel in the middle of a camp ground right on the river. It felt just like camping, only with a room and indoor plumbing. Perfection.
– Eating more of the awesome muffins from COOP
– Getting a traditional Korean gift from a bunk-mate
– Hiking to Murren in solitude and being amazed with the incredible beauty, every step of the way
– Finding my own ‘shortcut’ on the map and walking around for like 3 hours. Good way to see the city, even the industrial areas
– Walking along the river and dipping my feet in the water (soooo cold!)
– Hiking through grazing cows as I looked out at the majestic mountains. So surreal
– Admiring the cute Alpine cottages in Murren
– Being asked if everyone in California surfs, and having them be genuinely shocked when I said no
– Cable car rides with fabulous views
